What Are Artists Trading Cards?
Artist Trading Cards–or ATCs– are miniature works of art created on 2. 5" x 3. 5" card stock, the size of sports trading cards. All techniques are allowed and anybody can produce them. ATCs are signed, dated, and titled on the back then traded away for ATCs made by others. As a general rule, money never exchanges hands and all trades are one-for-one.

How to make an Artist Trading Card?
Begin with a 2 ½” X 3 ½” rectangle of card stock. ANY AND ALL MATERIALS and techniques are permitted (drawing in pencil, pen, marker, chalk or crayon etc., painting, photographs, sewing, collage, found materials, mixed media -- anything!).
Advanced Formats
The contest entry Artist Trading Cards may also:
- be connected to other ATCs to form an accordion book or similar format
- have flaps, foldouts, projections, or dangles that extend beyond the card size
- be created in a series which connects visually such as a “triptych”*, but will count as one card (in this case please place all parts in an envelop)
* A triptych has three side-by-side parts. They can be hinged panels, with the two outer panels designed so that they can be folded in towards the central one or three separate pieces with an image that is continued from one panel to the next.
